A little about Sydney FX
Hello, my name is Robert Mirabito and I started Sydney FX on February 18th 2004. Since I was young I wanted to be a programmer and developer and I can still remember reading about them in the 1978 World Book Encyclopedia.
After working for an IT company processing data for corporate clients, I found myself drawn to the internet and was very intested in how dynamic the web was becoming.
When I started I really knew very little about web design. I had done some basic web sites so I had some understanding of html coding. My first leap into the web design realm saw me spend approx five months learning the Adobe Flash environment however I soon realised that Flash was not ideal for generating good search engine rankings.
I then turned my focus to building websites using traditional HTML and decided right away to use Cascading Style Sheets for design layout. The next logical progression was to start developing dynamic websites using the PHP programming language which I found changed the landscape on how to develop websites. PHP being a powerful dynamic web language allowed me to start developing dynamic database driven web sites.
Then I was introduced to a new programming language called Ruby and the development framework called Rails which is commonly know as Ruby on Rails. After some experimentaion with Ruby, I decided to make Ruby on Rails my development framework of choice and will be progressively moving towards developing sites strictly in this framework.
I also developed skills in the world of search engine optimisation and pay per click marketing. After studying for SEO and achieving some great results with my own website in the search engine rankings, I took a job as a search engine marketing consultant with a small dynamic Sydney firm which has provided me alot of exposure to search and how to integrate a web site into the web to gain maximum exposure. I currently employed full-time with a Digital Marketing in Sydney and am currently only taking a limited amount of projects from my company Sydney FX.
When building a web site, a lot of areas need to be addressed in order for the site to be successful. I am a strong advocate for web design standards and web accessibility as recommended by W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). I generally design all client sites using CSS (no tables) which is better for search engines, provides faster loading times, and can emphasise your web site meaning to your customers much better than table based layouts.
